BUILDING SCIENCE BEHIND THE ECCCNYS
This course will provide attendees with an in-depth discussion of high performance buildings and the practical application of building science principles and best practices. Driving home the theme that buildings work as integrated systems, the course will cover the fundamentals of moisture, air flow, thermal flow, and pressure differentials that are central to creating comfortable, healthy, durable, and energy efficient places to live and work. Real world examples, pictures, and exercises will help attendees gain familiarity and better understanding of design and construction details that not only assure code compliance but also high performance.
Review of many of the new building materials that are continually appearing on the market will help attendees to recognize tested and proven performance. The session will also cover building science applications to commercial buildings as well as residential. At the end of the course, all attendees will have a solid understanding of high performance design, interaction of energy and moisture flows in buildings, installation best practices, and testing for verification of performance.
