As part of the NYSERDA and the NYS Department of State effort to provide support to building professionals on the Energy Conservation Construction Code of NYS 2010 (ECCCNYS 2010), Newport Ventures and partner, T. Y. Lin International are providing Energy Code Hotline and Plan Review services. Both services are available to code officials as well as builders, trade contractors, design professionals, and NYS residents who have questions about the code. ENERGY CODE HOTLINEHave a question about the ECCCNYS 2010? Get your questions answered promptly by a NYS code specialist. Hundreds of questions have already come into the Hotline via phone and email. Questions are answered on the spot or within 24 hours if research is needed. Topics have ranged from clarification of specific provisions in the code to “What if I have …?”. When needed, interpretation by the NYS DOS is provided, to ensure that all responses are accurate and in agreement with DOS interpretation. As an added bonus, all verbal responses are followed by a written response. Additionally, all of the questions and responses are being cataloged and will be made available in a searchable database online. Don't hesitate to contact the Hotline with any questions about the Energy Code. There are no dumb questions as none of the codes are “light reading”!

Code officials, design professionals, and builders are encouraged to take advantage of the free plan review services for compliance with the ECCCNYS 2010. The review is thorough and the delivery of a detailed comprehensive report is prompt. Plus, the process is easy! In response to a request for assistance with either a residential or commercial project, a code official is sent a pre-paid UPS label for shipping the plans and supporting documentation to T. Y. Lin in Rochester, NY or to Newport Ventures in Schenectady, NY. A review is usually completed in 4-5 business days unless the project is quite large or complicated. The report provides a detailed outline of all missing information or non-compliant items and provides the relevant code section and language.
